Germany must leave its comfort zone – politico

This is the starting point of the new government – and its fire trial without a period of grace. The future coalition will be judged to know if it acts quickly and decisively, attacks structural reforms with courage and triggers a spirit of economic renewal. In the end, the question is: how will we generate prosperity in the future?

The good news: the prerequisites for a new start are still in place.

German industry is ready for the future

I am convinced that it is in our power to light a new economic rebirth: “Made in Germany”. We still have abundant creativity, exceptional scientists, engineers and research institutions for world status. And we still have industries based here which are engaged in innovation and shape the future – the industries that want to roll up their sleeves, not make their suitcases and leave.

My own industry, the industrial health sector, is proof of how innovation and the future can be built in Germany. This sector offers more than a million people highly qualified, secure and well -paid jobs. It conducts research, develops and locally produces future revolutionary technologies – technologies that make health care more efficient, more sustainable and better – and exports them from Germany to the world. This is, in particular, one of the few industries in Germany which continues to grow regularly even in times of crisis, to support our economy and social systems and to create a prosperity.

In short: the industrial health sector is a key industry that is good for Germany – and it shows what is possible when we are boldly and consistent in progress and innovation.
