After 12 years of marriage and less than two years in Congress, Georgia Republican Rep. Rich McCormick has filed for divorce from his oncologist wife, Dr. Debra Miller.
The case was filed by McCormick on May 3. A mutual restraining order has also been filed, DailyMail.com exclusively reports.
McCormick and Miller, his second wife, share seven children and live in Suwanee, Georgia. Asked why the divorce was happening, Miller texted DailyMail.com: “I’m sure he won’t show.”
Capitol Hill insiders say McCormick was often seen behaving too friendly toward Republican female House member Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas.
A GOP member told DailyMail.com that they had seen McCormick and Van Duyne “holding hands under the table” at the weekly Republican Study Committee luncheon for the past three to four months and had seen “grabbing his lower back” on the House floor during votes.
Two eyewitnesses say they saw him and Beth holding hands, with one witnessing it as the two left the polls.

And during the State of the Union presentation on March 7, they could be seen sitting and laughing together while watching Biden’s speech.
McCormick even reached out to gently squeeze Van Duyne’s arm in a tender moment between the two captured on camera.
When asked if the divorce involved an alleged affair he may have had with a co-worker, his soon-to-be ex-wife, Miller, replied, “You’d have to ask Rich and his co-worker.”
A third witness told DailyMail.com that he saw Van Duyne holding McCormick’s arm as he left Longworth’s office late at night.
When asked about the cozy behavior and the divorce, a spokesperson for McCormick told DailyMail.com: “Congressman McCormick and Dr. Miller have been separated for some time. He has kept this private and will continue to keep his personal life out of the media spotlight.
A representative for Van Duyne declined to comment on DailyMail.com.
McCormick and his wife were photographed together as recently as the Christmas holidays. But he notably didn’t include her in a recent Mother’s Day tribute on X.
McCormick’s Facebook account indicates that the couple married on August 16, 2011.
McCormick spent more than 20 years as a pilot in the Marine Corps and Navy and also served as an emergency room physician at Georgia’s Gwinnett Medical Center.
He is in his first term in Congress, having joined in January 2023. He ran unsuccessfully for Georgia’s 7th District in 2020 against Democrat Carolyn Bordeaux.
In November, McCormick was the lead author of a censure resolution against Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Democrat of Michigan, for “promoting false narratives regarding Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and calling for destruction of the State of Israel.
Van Duyne is a Republican congresswoman from Texas
McCormick says he and his wife have been separated for “a while.” They were photographed together as recently as the Christmas holidays.
McCormick is in his first term in Congress, having joined in January 2023.

Shortly afterward, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who had also introduced an unsuccessful censure against Tlaib, accused McCormick of being physically aggressive with her.
Sources told CNN that during a private meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson in December, Greene claimed her male colleague “grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her” and asked for the president to address the issue.
“I understand why there would have been a lot of strong emotion after the censure vote given that his censure was tabled and mine passed. My intention was to encourage Rep. Greene by making a friendly gesture,” McCormick said .
He denied being physically aggressive towards her.
