Georgia mother mauled to death by pack of ‘aggressive dogs’

A mother was mauled to death by a pack of dogs who attacked her and her three children outside a Georgia middle school just days before Mother’s Day.

The dogs descended on the family Thursday while they were waiting at a bus stop behind Brooks County Middle School in Quitman, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Courtney Williams, 35, was found dead in a nearby yard.

“When deputies arrived, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property,” the GBI said.

Her children were taken to the hospital with injuries, with her son suffering several lacerations while battling the dogs to try to save his little sister’s life, according to the family.

“Kayden got Sissy out of danger, in doing so he saved her but took the dogs himself,” Williams’ sister-in-law Crystal Cox said on Facebook.

She shared several graphic images, showing the boy suffering from several deep wounds to his arms, legs and head.

Williams’ other son rushed into the school as the dogs attacked his family and reported a man – whom Cox called “an angel” – who helped fight off the boy’s dogs and transported them to emergency at the hospital.

Kayden was “pretty badly injured,” Cox said, but all three are now recovering at her home.

It’s unclear what breed these bloodthirsty dogs were, but neighbors told WALB they had been complaining about the need for animal control in the area for some time.

“People are abandoning their dogs all over the county and no one can get help because there is no animal control in the county. I pray for this woman’s family. It’s so sad,” one resident told the media.

Another lamented the timing of the tragedy – just three days before Mother’s Day.

“I think for the family and for the children because now they are going to have to celebrate Mother’s Day without their mother,” she said.

The GBI is conducting an autopsy to determine William’s official cause of death.
