Hollywood and many of George Wendt’s old co-stars pay tribute to the actor after the news of his death.
Wendt died peacefully in his sleep at home, confirmed his family on Tuesday morning. He was 76 years old.
“George was an adapted father, a beloved friend and confidant to all those who were lucky to have known him,” a representative of Wendt said in a statement. “We will miss it forever. The family asked for privacy during this period. ”
Wendt has had an incredible career as an actor, beloved for his main role as Norm Peterson in the 11 seasons of SitCom NBC Acclamations. During his time playing the standard, he won Emmy’s nominations for an exceptional support actor in a comedy series for six consecutive years, the character also making cameras St. Elsewhere, Wings, Simpsons, Family Guy, Frasier And Tortellis.
Wendt’s credits on the silver screen included Dream landscape (1984), Home (1985), Fletch (1985), GUNG HO (1986), Plain clothes (1987), Never say to die (1988), Suspicion (1991), Younger (1992) and Spice world (1997).

John Ratzenberger, who also acted alongside Wendt Acclamations Like Cliff Clavin, said in a press release THR“My heart is broken to hear the death of my friend George Wendt. For eleven years AcclamationsWe shared a scene, a lot of laughter and a first row seat at one of the most popular friendships on television. George gave life to the standard with a subtle shine – the genre that made it easy. It was his gift.
“It was a real craftsman – humble, hilarious and full of heart. What you saw on the screen was exactly who it was off screen with impeccable comic timing and a deep loyalty to those he loved,” added Ratzenberger. “I will miss our conversations and the calm moments of friendship that meant the most. My thoughts are with his wife Bernadette, their children and all those who loved her. ”
Also in a declaration at THRKelsey Grammer said: “I think mourning is a private matter. But I really liked George. He was loved by millions.”
Acclamations Star Rhea Perlman thought about their time on the series together in a statement to THR: “George Wendt was the sweetest and nicest man I have ever met. It was impossible not to love him. As Carla, I often stood next to him, because Norm always took the same seat at the end of the bar, which facilitated it and beat the shit at least once a week.” I loved it. ”

Actor Eric Allan Kramer, who made an appearance in a guest star in an episode of Acclamationssaid on Instagram, “was difficult to hear about his death … first met George Wendt on the set of Acclamations… One of the warmest and funniest guys I have ever met … welcoming as a star he was, giving incredibly as a rehearsal actor (and when the cameras were rolling) … also the first to make me a beer in my hand at the end of the night … Applause, indeed … Many things with laughter and education … Education.
