‘Gentle giant’ with ‘big heart’: Tuxedo cat named Augustus Gloop is up for adoption in Utah

An adoptable cat in Utah, that’s all – the chocolate factory is not included.

Tuxedo cat Augustus Gloop, named after the golden ticket winner in Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, is currently being adopted from the Best Friends Animal Society in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Augustus Gloop the cat was originally rescued from the Magic Valley Society in Twin Falls, Idaho in October 2022.

When Best Friends welcomed the 12-year-old cat, he had been declawed, was missing most of his teeth and had crusty eye discharge.

He was also obese.

Best Friends now has Augustus Gloop on a special diet to help with his kidney function and weight loss, according to Animal Rescue.

The Best Friends Animal Society describes Augustus Gloop as a "great Sir." He loves head scratchers, the band said.

Augustus Gloop is known to “bake cookies” with his paws when he feels satisfied and likes to get cozy under blankets, the group also said.

Although the cat can be a bit shy around new people, he tends to get comfortable quickly, Fox News Digital said.

He also gets along well with young children.

When Augustus Gloop first showed up at Salt Lake City's Best Friends Animal Society, he was obese.  Today, he follows a special diet for his health.
