The quarter-back of the new raiders, Geno Smith, started for coach Pete Carroll for two seasons in Seattle, and he is delighted to advance him in Las Vegas.
“There is unfinished affairs,” said Smith about what he and Carroll want to accomplish together. “When people think of my story, the coach Carroll is a large part. He gave me an opportunity when few people would have had, and he saw the hard work I put, he saw things behind the scenes that I did that allowed me to get this opportunity. To be able to play for him, to be part of this organization, and he knows everything for me and my family.
Smith said Carroll is all that a player could ask for a head coach.
“He is very relatable. He loves all his players as if they were his children. He treats us all the same. He treats us like men. It allows us to make decisions. It allows us to be ourselves,” said Smith. “He is legendary. His history is talking about himself. He participates every day and that is what I like in him.”
