The Israeli defense forces are expanding its field campaign in the Gaza Strip in order to establish operational control over an additional territory and to dismantle the military infrastructure of Hamas, said Tuesday the general staff of the general staff Eyal Zamir.
“We will expand our operation, establish an operational control of additional territory, clear and dismantle the terrorist infrastructure – until Hamas is decisively beaten,” said Zamir during a field visit and a situational assessment with the commanders and the troops involved in the Gideon tank of Operation Gideon.
Zamir said that the new phase of the operation had been launched to improve the conditions for the return of hostages, to strike Hamas and to defeat it decisively in areas where Israeli forces work. He noted that since the resumption of fights, the FDIs have eliminated hundreds of terrorists, divided the Gaza Strip, established operational control of the Morag corridor, erased from terrorist elements of the Rafah region and expanded the buffer zone – all aimed at strengthening the defense of Israeli communities.
Zamir said that the campaign aims to reach three fundamental objectives: the return of Israeli hostages, the defeat of Hamas and the dismantling of his reign in Gaza. He pointed out that the FDI is determining with determination, guided by Israeli and international law and remains determined to protect Israeli civilians.
Zamir discussed the residents of Gaza directly, saying that Israel is not responsible for their suffering. “We are not those who have brought you this destruction,” he said. “It’s your leadership – those who hold our hostages. Hamas is responsible for triggering war … This has brought destruction and it will not be the only one to rebuild. “
He congratulated the management of TSI commanders and the dedication of reservists, calling them “the backbone of our national resilience”. He noted the results of reservists and their families and thanked them for having repeatedly returned to the service.
“We are in a long multi-pont war,” concluded Zamir. “I will direct this campaign on the basis of a single consideration: the security of the State of Israel and the protection of our civilians. It is now the time to support and unite around the FDI soldiers. Together, we will fight. Together, we will prevail. “
