Gaza Warehouse by “Hordes of Hungry People” says WFP

The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) says that “hordes of hungry people” have turned into a food supplies in the center of Gaza.

Two people are said to have died and several others injured in the incident, said the program, adding that he was still confirming the details.

The video sequences of the AFP news agency showed a crowd in the warehouse of Al-Ghafari in Deir al-Balah and taking bags of flour and boxes of food as the shots sounded. He was not immediately clear where the gunshots came from.

In a statement, the WFP said that humanitarian needs in Gaza were “unleashed” after an Israeli blockade of almost three months which was relaxed last week.

PAM said food supplies had been pre-positioned to the distribution warehouse.

The program added: “Gaza needs an immediate scaling of food aid. This is the only way to reassure people that they will not die.”

PAM said that it had “constantly warned alarming and deteriorated conditions in the field, and the risks imposed by the limitation of humanitarian aid for hungry people who desperately need help.”

Israeli authorities said on Wednesday that 121 trucks belonging to the UN and the international community with humanitarian aid, including flour and food, were transferred to Gaza.

Israel began to allow limited aid to Gaza last week.

A controversial group from the United States and Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) – has also been created as a private aid distribution system. He uses American security entrepreneurs and bypassing the UN, who said he was impracticable and contrary to ethics.

The United States and Israeli governments say that the GHF, which has created four distribution centers in the south and center of Gaza, prevents help from Hamas, which the armed group denies.

One Humans Right Office said 47 people were injured on Tuesday after people exceeded one of the GHF distribution sites In the southern city of Rafah, one day after starting to work there.

Another high leader of the United Nations told journalists on Wednesday that desperate crowds loot the cargoes of the United Nations aid trucks.

Jonathan Whittall, the head of the UN humanitarian office for the occupied Palestinian territories, also said that there was no evidence that Hamas diverted coordinated aid through credible humanitarian channels.

He said that the real theft of rescue products since the start of the war had been made by criminal gangs that the Israeli army “made it possible to operate near the crossing point in Kerem Shalom in Gaza”.

The UN argued that a wave of aid like that during the recent ceasefire between Israeli and Hamas would reduce the threat of looting by hungry people and allowed it to fully use its well-established distribution network through the Gaza Strip.
