Gavin Newsom is moving his children away from California’s capital… so his daughter can attend a $60,000-a-year private school in one of the wealthiest regions in the United States.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife are moving their family to an exclusive part of the state so his daughter can attend a new private school.

The Democrat, touted as a future presidential candidate, will stay at his six-bedroom, $3.7 million home in suburban Sacramento with his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom on certain evenings during the week.

But he will move his children 90 miles away to Marin County in time for the fall semester, when his eldest, Montana, enrolls at the Branson School — whose tuition can reach $60,000 a year .

The move comes at a time when he is already fueling speculation that he is focusing on his political future beyond the end of his term as governor in 2027.

Newsom indicated he already had one foot out the door with a pre-recorded State of the State address Tuesday in which he compared 2024 to 1939 — when fascism was on the rise on the eve of World War II.

Newsom’s office confirmed the move to the elite Bay Area enclave to Politico.

“To ensure continuity of their children’s education, the family will split their time between Sacramento and Marin as the next academic year approaches,” said the governor’s spokeswoman, Izzy Gardon.

Newsom’s term as governor expires in January 2027 and he is a favorite to be a leading contender in the 2028 presidential race.

He has been touted as a potential replacement for Joe Biden, but has ended speculation and will now be a campaign surrogate.

One of his first major campaign appearances will be in Atlanta, Georgia, for the first presidential debate on Thursday evening.

Instead of disrupting their children’s lives in the middle of a school year, the move will allow Montana to begin high school as a freshman.

Newsom grew up in San Francisco but later moved to Marin, one of the wealthiest communities in the country. He and Siebel both attended schools there.

In the upscale suburb of Ross, home to the elite school Montana plans to attend, the median household income is $250,000 and the median house price is $1.6 million, or double the California state average.

The couple has four children: Montana, Hunter, Brooklyn and Dutch. In May, Siebel Newsom said she had to pull one of them out of school because of the harassment.

Newsom was called a COVID hypocrite during the pandemic for imposing a mask mandate in schools while Montana and Hunter attended basketball camp without masks.

Newsom pulled them from camp in July 2021 and insisted at the time that he “missed” the email that said children would not have to wear face masks.

It’s not the only time he’s been accused of double standards during lockdown, after he was caught enjoying a meal without a mask at the lavish French Laundry restaurant.
