Of head coach Kevin O’Sullivan
In the hot start in the first Florida match in Texas …
“It is a match of nine rounds. Obviously, we took a very good start offensively and scored six points in the first. I think it probably settled our nerves a little. And then, our pitch was really good. It was great to recover Pierce again and I thought Billy Barlow was exceptional in her four heats. Overall, I think we have withdrawn 16 years and walked three. When you do this, you give yourself a chance to win every night. The only statistics that comes out is that we launched 72% strikes in the first round tonight. They continued to hammer the area. Not a good night to strike. The wind turned and was blowing, so the ball did not really wear. You just have to launch strikes, and they did it tonight. “”
On the impact of Barlow and the pen that picks up the game with strikes…
“We put ourselves in the position of 1-11 (in the dry) because we do not launch strikes. So, it is rewarding for all the coaches that we start to turn the corner on the pitch side, because offensively, we were good, for the most part, all year round.”
