Gary Neville admitted that he had been amazed by Liverpool this season, describing the team of Arne Slot as “incredible”.
Liverpool beat its rivals Everton 1-0 Wednesday evening thanks to a goal from Diogo Jota.
The result saw Liverpool move to 12 points away from Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with eight games to play.
The legend of United Neville said he felt that Liverpool would experience a “removal” after the departure of Jurgen Klopp last year.
However, Liverpool has been extremely impressive and has won 22 championship games so far this season, scoring 70 goals in the process – by far the most in the division.
Neville also rejected the suggestions that Liverpool’s defeat against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final or their elimination of the Champions League could withdraw any triumph from the expected league.

Neville was full of praise for Arne Slot and the way he replaced Jurgen Klopp
United Legend Neville said he was thinking that Liverpool would be dropped this season
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: “I am amazed at the place where Liverpool is. I don’t think we can rewrite history now and say because they lost the Carabao Cup final because they came out of Europe, it’s a half -remarkable season. It’s an incredible season.
Neville underlined the differences between Klopp and Slot and said that the latter deserved huge praise for the impact he had had.
“ To succeed Jurgen Klopp, a massive personality and character who, in some ways, were loved beyond Liverpool’s words, you just thought there would be a drop. Everyone thought there would be a drop, I certainly did it.
“I thought there was no way that these Liverpool players could react the same to a manager you had been so accustomed.
“Slot, because it is the absolute contradiction of Klopp in terms of composure, its sweetness, its calm, it seems just to be perfect in terms of what Liverpool needed this season and you have to give it to all those who named it but also to the manager and the players.”
Neville added that Liverpool will now know that they are almost champions after overcoming Everton.
Neville said: `It was not spectacular to Liverpool but it was not the most important thing this evening, they were really professional, especially after having marked the objective that I thought was exceptional.
“They did it several times this season when they kept the ball very well,” managed the match. Tonight, they will enter this dressing room knowing that they are almost there and it will be a question of making sure they no longer make mistakes now.
Neville did not foresee that Liverpool would be so impressive after the departure of Klopp
Liverpool returns to action on Sunday when they face Fulham.
The slot team only needs 13 points to be crowned champions.
