Galaxy’s without victory sequence extends to 10 games with a defeat against Portland

CARSON – For a brief moment, the galaxy entertained the hope of a draw or even a victory.

Then, as was the case all season, the most unlucky moments hit the team.

Defender Emiro Braces was called to a fault on Jonathan Rodriguez who led to a penalty kick, which Rodriguez would convert to the 76th minute, ending the Rally, putting the Galaxy a 4-2 defeat in front of 21 215 in Dignity Health Sports Park.

“We started to start again in the match at 3-2 and I felt like I had all the momentum and we were going to continue to create chances and just a little unexpectedly a penalty call … I did not see it, but it is certain in the race live, I did not see a penalty.

“It was like a fairly uniform challenge, that they were going to the field several times. At best, it was 50-50 and sweet, you call it, it is difficult to overcome, you do not call it, nobody says anything. They should not dictate games. At 4-2, it is a much greater hill.”

The defeat extends the Galaxy victory sequence in MLS to 10 games (0-7-3). The only victory this season occurred in the second stage of the Hold-H against the 16 Cup Cup of 16 against CS Herediano.

Things seemed dark for the galaxy on the goal of Kevin Kelsy in the 63rd minute, giving Portland a 3-0 lead.

“I trust the guys, we have good times in good stretching, then we are a little snake and sometimes create our own problems,” said Galaxy coach Greg Vanney. “I like our group, we must continue to work and find the solutions.”

The galaxy managed to respond quickly. Christian Ramirez scored in the 67th minute and Marco Reus followed the 69th, giving life in the stadium.

Then came the turn. Braces and Rodriguez seemed to be crossed. Rodriguez fell to the first contact and referee Filip Dujic underlined the penalty point. Rodriguez has intensified and converted, giving Timbers advance 4-2.

In response to the question of the pool journalist, Dujic said: “The Galaxy n ° 25 (Braces) committed a fault by kicking the Portland player in the back of the leg. He didn’t play the ball. The Var (Video Assistant Review) has not seen a clear and obvious error. ”

“The way we concede the goals, it’s too easy for us,” said Galaxy midfielder Marco Reus. “The details make the difference. It starts in training. The training must be more quality every day. When you do, you can build for the weekend. We need more mentality and we have to hate losing.

“Small details … When we lose, just because the other team is much, much better. It’s part of football, but its unnecessary errors.”

The teams played a 1-1 draw last month in Portland.

The Galaxy will be on the road for its next three games, visiting Sporting Kansas City (May 4), New York Red Bulls (May 10) and Philadelphia Union (May 14). The next home game will take place on May 18, the first El Trafico meeting with Lafc.
