Galaxy Z Fold 6 vs Z Flip 6: Specs Comparison of Samsung’s Latest Foldables

Samsung unveiled the latest versions of its foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, at its Unpacked event on Wednesday. While the devices share many similar features, there are some differences in their cameras, displays, and, most importantly, their prices. Here’s how the foldable phones compare.

This story is part of Samsung EventCNET’s collection of news, tips and tricks on Samsung’s most popular products.

Ultimately, the two foldables take a different approach: The book-style Z Fold 6 has a cover display that you use like a traditional smartphone, while the inner display unfolds to form a tablet-sized screen for productivity and gaming. The clamshell Z Flip 6, on the other hand, functions like a traditional smartphone when unfolded, but when closed, it takes up half the footprint, making it small enough to fit in your pocket or bag.

One of the biggest differences between the two is of course the screen size. When closed, the Z Fold 6’s AMOLED display measures 6.3 inches with a variable refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz, while the Z Flip 6’s outer AMOLED display measures 3.4 inches with a 60Hz refresh rate. When opened, the Z Fold 6’s inner display measures 7.6 inches, while the Z Flip 6’s is 6.7 inches. Both inner AMOLED displays have a refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz.

As for the rear cameras, the Z Fold 6 has a 50-megapixel wide-angle, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, and a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens. The Z Flip 6 has a 50-megapixel wide-angle and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle. Meanwhile, the Z Fold 6 has a 4-megapixel internal under-display selfie camera and a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the cover. The Z Flip 6 has a 10-megapixel front-facing camera.

Both phones are powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. They both come with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage, while the Z Fold 6 also comes in a 1TB option. Neither has expandable storage.

Both phones run Android 14 out of the box, and Samsung promises seven years of software and security updates. The Z Fold 6 has a 4,400mAh battery, and the Z Flip 6 has a 4,000mAh battery. Both devices have 25-watt USB-C charging, as well as the ability to charge wirelessly. You won’t find a headphone jack on either device.

Price can be one of the deciding factors when choosing between the two. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 starts at $1,900, while the Z Flip 6 starts at $1,100. But one thing both devices have in common is that they cost $100 more than their predecessors. They are available for pre-order in the US now and will be available on July 24.
