Polk County, GA. – A school district of Georgia will close its buildings on Friday to take preventive measures due to flu and norovirus.
The District of Polk County schools says that there have been absences from “excessive” students. Friday, the district will switch to students to a day of home learning day in deep buildings.
This closure will also allow additional recovery time for those affected by these viruses.

Polk county schools said that it currently had 761 students and 63 school staff who reported diseases.
This represents 10% or more of the student population in each school and it is also a “shortage of personnel necessary to operate effectively”, according to the district.
“This decision is not taken lightly and, as always, we will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, our staff and our community. SauScover activities and events after school will not be affected, “said the district.

The closure will allow all the campus facilities to receive a “full cleaning to help reduce the spread of the disease and ensure a disinfected environment for everyone during the reopening”.
Parents are encouraged to take precautions to ensure that their students are safe and do not bring viruses to school.
The district encourages parents to monitor the symptoms of the disease, make sure they wash their hands and keep the sick students at home until they were without symptom / fever.
