CNN’s Don Lemon began to lose his temper after his colleague Chris Cuomo had former Senator Rick Santorum (R-Penn.) On his show to explain his racist comments about Native Americans.

“Did he really think it was a good idea for him to come on TV and try to whitewash the whitewash he whitewashed?” Lemon asked. “It was horrible and insulting and I apologize to the viewers who were insulted by it.”

Santorum, who is now a CNN commentator, claimed last month that there was nothing in America before the arrival of the white colonizers.

“I mean, yeah, we have Native Americans,” Santorum said at an event for young conservatives. “But frankly, there isn’t a lot of Native American culture in American culture.”

The comments led to calls for CNN to fire Santorum.

Speaking to Cuomo, Santorum did not apologize, instead saying he had “misspoken” and been “taken out of context”. But Lemon didn’t have it, describing himself as “furious” as he watched Santorum talk to Cuomo from his office.

“He’s done it so many times,” Lemon said. “So many times and it was so blatant and insulting.”

The Daily Beast posted the clips to Twitter, which caused The Trending Don Lemon Name on the network:

Lemon didn’t seem too happy with Cuomo for giving Santorum the airtime. As Cuomo tried to explain the segment, Lemon sighed in exasperation and eventually gave up.

“We have to go, because we won’t be okay,” Lemon said as he concluded the exchange:

Lemon didn’t hesitate to let Cuomo know how he feels about some of the guests on his show. For example, Cuomo often gave airtime to Kellyanne Conway, who at the time was an advisor to then-President Donald Trump, for their famous and combative exchanges.

Lemon called him on the air in 2019.

“She never answers a question. She berates you. She’s condescending, ”Lemon said. “For me, it does not seem to me in the dignity of this network to have someone about who constantly lies and misinterprets things.
