The medal haul continued for the Indian contingent on Wednesday, Day 7 of the Paris Paralympics, as the country’s medal tally rose to 24 with four medals, including two golds.

Harvinder Singh won India’s first Paralympic gold in archery, three years after he won the country’s first medal at the Games with a bronze in Tokyo. Later on Wednesday, Dharambir and Pranav Soorma won gold and silver respectively in the men’s club throw F51 final, completing a historic double.

Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) president Devendra Jhajharia, himself a legendary Paralympian, had predicted 25 medals for the nation before the Games and the 84-strong Indian contingent is just one medal away from achieving that target.

With several medal events scheduled on Day 8 of the competition, India certainly has a chance of crossing the 25-medal mark for the first time, three years after registering its first double-digit medal haul at the Paralympics.
