Frontier Airlines eliminates change fees and introduces 4 new fare classes

Frontier Airlines announced it is waiving change fees on some tickets, as part of its efforts to attract more travelers.

The changes, which came into effect on May 17, aim to simplify the process of purchasing tickets.

The Denver-based airline, known for its cheap fares, previously charged for additional services such as seat assignments and carry-on bags, like rivals Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air.

Frontier now offers packages that bundle these extras, including early boarding. Most customers should opt for these new bundled options, although some fares will still offer a la carte choices.

“Today marks the start of a new era for Frontier – an era with our pricing transparency, no change fees and the lowest total price,” Barry Biffle, CEO of Frontier Airlines, said in the release. official press release.

“It’s ‘the new frontier’ and we’re committed to offering more than the lowest prices: we offer the best price for all the options you want and the customer support you need, when you need it. No gimmicks, just super low prices. prices and good customer service,” the statement continued.

The new “economy” package, which includes a carry-on bag and a seat assignment, will start at $30 more than the base fare.

The “premium” package, offering these benefits as well as early boarding, will cost $50 more. For an additional $100, the “business” package will give travelers two checked bags and a front-row seat with extra legroom.

The move follows a final rule issued last month by the U.S. Department of Transportation that requires airlines to disclose all fees, including those for checked and carry-on bags. The DOT estimates this change will save travelers more than half a billion dollars annually.
