Dear Mizzou family,
Friday announcement concerning the House c. Ncaa The regulations represent a historic turning point in university athletics – and it signals the beginning of a new daring chapter for Mizzou and institutions across the country. After months of legal proceedings and years of dialogue on the best way to support student-athletes, we now have a clear path. It is a new day in university sports – and a critical opportunity for Mizzou Athletics.
This moment marks the first time in history that the university athletics departments will be able to share part of their income directly with student-athletes. From July 1, SEC schools and other conferences will have the opportunity to distribute $ 20.5 million a year to students -athletes – in addition to athletics scholarships, zero third -party profits and other advantages. SEC institutions and country schools are engaged in fairness, transparency and responsibility in our new model.
As we have shared with you before, our Mizzou athletics staff spent last year preparing for this result, and although we recognize the operational changes that this requires, we approach the new era with a sense of objective and optimism.
With that, I want to double a crucial point: At Mizzou, we see this moment as an opportunity. It is a pivotal moment to reaffirm our commitment to invest in what motivates competitive success and to adopt the innovation that is necessary to prosper at the highest level.
Thanks to your response to ticket prices and fundraising adjustments that we brought at the start of this year, as well as a significant reallocation of internal resources, we have already embarked on full support of $ 20.5 million in “income sharing” to our student-athletes for next year.
This new model allows us to provide our students with even more important opportunities to benefit financially. By participating in the sharing of income at the highest level to maintain our competitive advantages, the country’s students in the country will know that Mizzou welcomes this development. Our commitment includes more than 60 new scholarships totaling around $ 3 million for next year.
In addition, students-athletes will always be able to benefit from the name, image and resemblance (Nile) deal with external companies, and our partner companies are incredibly excited to help support. These Nile transactions will now be reported via a new online platform called Nile Go To ensure that they comply with a set of established standards,, Developed by the newly created university sports commission with Deloitte councils. We will ask the Mizzu business community to seize these opportunities and provide more information in the near future.
To our fans of mizzou, donors, former students and friends: Understand that oUr Focus remains firmly on the seizure of this opportunity to advance the mizzou mission and compete for the championships motivated by our collective “will to win”. Everyone wishes To win. But we must all have a real “will” to win, where we focus on the laser on the victory of the championships, the suspension of banners and the creation of incredible memories for life.
We know that many of you have questions about how it will work. Our open and transparent communication with you, as well as our coaches, our students and our staff will continue in the weeks and months to come, including a unique opportunity to come to ask direct questions about this new era in university athletics.
Thank you for standing with us during this transformation period. For more information on the College Sports Commission and new policies, please visit www.collegesportscommission.org.
