When John Hamill was just starting as a lawyer, his business partners covered paper projects with their scratched suggestions.
Then Microsoft changed the game with track changes in Word, said Hamill.
Now, the commercial litigant has said that the legal profession is again modified with generative artificial intelligence.
In Dla Piper, where he helps to train young lawyers as part of the staging of the company’s affirmative dispute, Hamill encourages his team to use “the most recent and the biggest software” to refine his writing skills and think outside the beaten track.
“Some of the tools that are now available on the market can give fairly insightful suggestions to development writers on what to do and why,” said Hamill.
He likes Microsoft Copilot, Briefcatch and Harvey, among others – although he is reluctant to choose a favorite, saying that the best product today could be considerably different in two months.
Hamill has also recognized the potential for co -pilotes to respond with erroneous information. He tells his team to always check the work of the writing assistant.
“We think there as an intelligent and creative trainee who works very quickly,” he said, “but just like a new lawyer, consultant, analyst-it will make mistakes.”
