Johnny jumps
Has the same weight as Livin On Luco despite a good disparity in ratings.
The Gary Moore-trained horse was favorite last time out and performed well enough to suggest he should storm home.
He placed second behind Jetronic who scored fairly high over hurdles and returned to hurdles for the first time for trainer Paul Nicholls, and received 7lb from the favourite.
It was also only his second race over hurdles and he lived up to what he showed on his debut by surprising with a 16/1 shot and launching at Fontwell in January.
Returns to the course Friday afternoon in great form as a promising hurdler for the yard.
Latin verse
Placed well behind Kabral Du Mathan in a Grade 2 hurdle at Huntingdon in January, then followed that up with an easy success at 4/1 at Ludlow.
Most read in horse racing
Was retained in the Boodles at the Cheltenham Festival at 14/1 and should continue to improve in this competition against other rivals who have also struggled in this race.
Balboa would make the frame either way as he’s fairly attractively priced, but he hasn’t been very confident with his jumps to make him worth risking a punt.
Golden Maverick receives quite a bit of weight from the mentioned pair and is the clear favorite and although he is improving, it is unlikely to be enough against these two rivals who seem stronger.
