Gukesh compares freestyle and classic failures

Freestyle Chess, which allows players to start from randomized positions, has generated a new excitement in sport with the new visit to the Grand Chelem by Magnus Carlsen. However, Gukesh thinks that it is still in its infancy and far from going beyond conventional failures in terms of prestige and meaning.

“Freestyle is exciting, and I am happy to play it. But it is too early to say where it’s okay. We have only had two serious freestyle tournaments so far. I hope freestyle will develop, but I don’t think it will ever give conventional failures.

Gukesh recently participated in the Weissenhaus leg of the Grand Chelem Freestyle tour, where he finished eighth out of 10 participants. It is currently classified n ° 3 in the world in the classic classification Fide with an ELO note of 2787. However, its rapid position and Blitz is not as high, its dimensions in the two formats falling below 2700.

GUKESH, who became world champion after destroying Ding Liren last year, confirmed his participation in the Parisian leg of the Grand Chelem tour of Freestyle chess, scheduled for April 7 to 14. The tournament, with a massive hood of $ 7,50,000 (Rs. 6.5 crosses), will show off some of the best players in the world, including Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Vincent Keymar and Fabiano Caruana.

Besides GUKESH, the tournament will also set out two other Indian grandmother, Arjun Erigaisi and R Praggnanandhaa. The matches will be played at the Chesnaire du Roy pavilion in Paris and will showcase 12 players instead of 10.
