LOS Angeles – Freddie Freeman was out of the Dodgers programming for the match on Monday evening against the Braves of Atlanta after having injured his right ankle surgically repaired at home this weekend.
Freeman injured his ankle when he slipped in the shower, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. Its status is daily.
“He had a little misadventure in the shower, entering the shower, the bathtub,” said Roberts. “He has swelled a little. I can’t play tonight.”
This is the second time that the regular season has started that Freeman has missed time after aggravating an injury that was created at the end of last season. He did not play in the two games against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo after feeling discomfort in the same coast that he injured during the playoffs last fall.
He was aligned for the three games against the Detroit Tigers during the weekend. He went 3 for 12 with two circuits in the series but did not seem to be moving very well.
Freeman was injured in the right ankle on September 26 last season, hurting a game with the first goal, and missed the last three games of the regular season. He played by the injury during the playoffs, but required hours of processing daily and still seated three games combined in the national league division and NL Championship series.
Freeman was appointed MVP of the World Series, but the ankle injury still bothers him during the offseason and he finally underwent surgery to eliminate bulk bodies in the joint. It was limited in early spring.
“It was not 100%,” said Roberts about Freeman’s ankle before the re-blue this weekend. “But still, obviously the way he threw the bat – he was in a good place.”
Roberts said Freeman had come to the stadium for treatment on the day of leave on Sunday and wanted to play on Monday.
“He feels that he could go there and play,” said Roberts. “But just upside down, do the calculation, let him recover today, and we will see how he is tomorrow.”
