Frazer Clarke explains what he must do to fight Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury after Fabio Wardley draw

The British heavyweight scene is full of talent, including Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

But rising star Frazer Clarke is hoping to cement his name at world level alongside them in the future, and he certainly put his name in the spotlight over Easter weekend after an epic draw with Fabio Wardley at the O2 London Arena.

“Big Fraze” recovered from a fifth-round knockdown and inflicted a gruesome nose injury on his rival, and may have found himself unfortunate not to receive the nod in an extremely close fight.

Naturally, had he won, Clarke could have found himself alongside domestic names such as Joshua and Fury, both of whom have a strong presence in the world titlist.

But during an appearance on talkSPORT Breakfast, the Olympic bronze medalist believes he will have to take more steps to reach AJ and the Gypsy King.

“Talking about Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, you’re talking about the top two or three in the heavyweight Premier League,” he admitted.

“I think we need to look a little bit lower, I think there are a few levels we need to get through first.

“I’m sure that with this fight we will have both improved and learned a lot, and gotten a little closer to the names everyone wants to see us fight.

“But first we have to decide who is better between me and Fabio, so we have to come back to that.

“I don’t like draws in boxing, I definitely wasn’t happy with the draw, he looked a little happier with the draw, but we need to go back.”

Clarke went on to insist he thought he had done enough to raise his hand, but refused to blame those responsible for their decision.

He continued: “I thought I won the fight, I knew he would come back in time with some good moments.

Spencer Oliver thinks the winner of the Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke rematch could win a big fight in Saudi Arabia, but not against Anthony Joshua

“But I was convinced that I won the fight but that’s not my job, the rest is up to the judges and referees.

“And I’m a big believer in respecting judges and officials, so I’m not going to sit here and slander anyone, it’s a draw and that’s what it is.”

Both men received extensive medical evaluation after the war, and rematch talks are not expected to begin until the fighters are fully recovered.

Either way, any tilt with Joshua and Fury should be unlikely, with the WBC world champion currently locked in a two-fight deal with Oleksandr Usyk as he seeks the undisputed crown on May 18.

Meanwhile, AJ awaits news of his next move, but is in line to fight for a vacant IBF world heavyweight title after Fury vs Usyk.
