And even if the former England international was willing to wait for the perfect opportunity, it could come in the form of a shock appointment as Canada boss.

According to the Telegraph, Lampard has been shortlisted by the Canadian Football Federation as a potential candidate for the country’s head coach position.

The North Americans are keen to speak to the Chelsea legend, who was spotted watching England train ahead of their friendlies against Belgium and Brazil.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not this position will prove an attractive position for Lampard, who is willing to wait for the perfect opportunity.

Mauro Biello is currently in caretaker manager after John Herdman resigned to join Toronto FC.

Lampard is no stranger to the other side of the Atlantic, having spent the final years of his playing career with New York City FC in MLS.

But he has never coached a foreign club with his managerial experience limited to Derby County, Chelsea and Everton, before replacing Graham Potter last season at Stamford Bridge on an interim basis from last April.

The 45-year-old led Derby to the play-off final in his first year in charge of the Rams before taking over at Chelsea, helping them to a top-four finish.

He was sacked during his second year in charge, with Thomas Tuchel replacing him and winning the Champions League with the Blues.

Lampard then took over at Everton and steered them away from relegation, but was fired in January 2023 after almost a year in charge.

“I love being with the family and I hope to come back at some point,” Lampard said.

“I hope something happens that suits me, I can’t wait to get back to work but as I say again, I’m enjoying family life.

“It’s a lot of work, so when you’re away from it, it’s nice to enjoy being with all my kids.”

“You like the work. you understand the rigors of these days. I enjoyed all the clubs I worked with.

“They’ve all been big challenges for different reasons. I like working with the players, improving the players and the team, so let’s see what happens.”
