Franco Colapinto was left on the verge of a grid penalty after changes made to his alpine entering the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagne.
The team has chosen to modify the components of the power supply unit on the Colapinto car, including the addition of a fourth turbocharger and an MGU-H. This is the limit authorized for the season.
Although it is the first Colarpinto race for Alpine, after having replaced the Jack Doohan Demo after the recent Miami Grand Prix, the Argentinian inherits the PU changes previously brought to the car when he was motivated by the Australian.
This means that with a fourth TC and MGU-H, any other change will trigger an automatic grid penalty.
COLAPINTO also took a third internal combustion engine and a third MGU-K. As with TC and MGU-H, four of each component are the limit of a campaign.
The Alpine Pierre Gasly teammate also installed a third MGU-K.
