France has prepared for the far right and the left parties provide for gatherings to the decision of the Pen decision | France

The extreme right of France hopes for a massive public exhibition of support tomorrow in a “popular protest” against the fact that Marine Le Pen is prohibited from presenting herself to the presidency in 2027.

The National National Party (National Rally – RN) called for a national demonstration under the banner “saving democracy” after Le Pen was found guilty during a trial of embezzlement of 4 million euros (3.4 million pounds sterling).

The left -wing and centrist parties also called for gatherings separated in and around the capital in support of the law under implementation – as well as to support the court, and judges who have been subjected to death threats requiring police protection.

Prime Minister, François Bayrou, asked that rival rallies stood in a spirit of “calm mutual respect and a spirit of responsibility” to avoid clashes.

THE In French The newspaper said the demonstrations would be a “image battle”. “We could almost believe that we are in the midst of an electoral campaign,” he wrote.

The RN called for a “peaceful popular mobilization” after Le Pen was found guilty last Monday to divert the funds from the European Parliament thanks to a huge scam of false jobs. A 10 -year investigation was followed by a nine -week trial last fall and the three judges rendered their verdict after a three -month deliberation.

Le Pen and eight other members of the European Parliament of the IRN, who all refused the accusations and appealed, were tried in an organized “system” of diversion between 2004 and 2016 in which European funds supposed to be used to pay the EU parliamentary assistants were used to pay the party workers in France. The court concluded that the Pen was at the “heart” of this system and guilty of having organized eight fictitious contracts directly and to encourage a larger false job regime.

Le Pen and his colleagues are not the only French politicians to have been accused of financial irregularity. In February 2024, eight members of the Bayrou centrist party modem were found guilty of the same improper use of European Parliament funds. They were sentenced to a fine, sentenced to prison sentences and prohibited from the public service. Bayrou was rid of embezzlement.

The French deputy on the right Ciotti, who supports Le Pen, and suggested canceling the law which and other people recognized as guilty of public service fraud, was the subject of a survey on allegations of abusive use of public funds.

In 2022, the former Prime Minister and the Presidential Hope François Fillon and his Welsh wife, Penelope, were found guilty of embezzlement of public funds in a false job scandal.

Le Pen was sentenced to four years in prison, two stays and two to receive an electronic label. She was also sentenced to a fine of € 100,000 and struck an immediate ban on the public service for five years. Due to the appeal against his conviction, the sentence is postponed to a new trial, but the public service bar remains in place.

The French judicial authorities have declared that they would accelerate the process, which can take decades, to ensure that the court of appeal hears the case and pronounces a verdict by the summer of 2026.

To participate in the presidential election, it must be authorized or sentenced a second time, but the ban has been lifted. The second option raises the prospect of a condemned fraudster entering the Elysée with an electronic ankle.

While the RN hopes for a show of force this weekend, the polls suggest that Le Pen may not have public support on which it counts and affirms.

An institute clusters survey for The point The magazine found that 61% of French people thought that its justified conviction and that two out of three interviewed said that the immediate application of a bar according to the public service was “fair”; 43% said conviction and punishment were “extremely justified”.

Stewart Chau, director of surveys at the Vérian group, said that France was engaged in an “opinion battle” and that polls were to be considered with caution.

“If 60% of people think that this justice is impartial and think that Marine Le Pen is not above the law and should be judged as anyone, it still means that 40% do not agree and think that it is a political decision, which is not an insignificant number,” said Chau Observer.

He said he did not think there would be a massive mobilization in support of the RN on Sunday.

“The RN is trying to conclude this judgment against this as a broader question of an attack on democracy. Although the political earthquake caused by the judgment of last Monday is felt by the inner circle of the RN and its supporters, I do not think that the wider dynamic is there,” he added.

The French extreme right presented itself on several occasions as above corruption and the abuse of power scandals that have struck other parties. The father and founder of the National Front, Jean-Marie Le Pen, who died in January, adopted the slogan “Clean Hands and Head held high” before the 1993 legislative elections. For decades, his daughter, who took over the party in 2011, campaigned for more strict laws to fight corruption in public life; When the rule of ineligibility for the public service for condemned fraudsters was debated in Parliament in 2016, it called on people who are guilty of being excluded for life.

Commentators say they are wary of gatherings suggesting that there is general popular support when most participants are already members of the group or supporters.

“There will undoubtedly be a big crowd at the Paris RN meeting on Sunday. As in 2017 at the meeting entitled by François Fillon in place of the Trocadéro when he was charged. But care about optical illusions: each time, it is not the “people” who revolts against the judges, wrote Francefo.
