France calls on the EU to react to Trump – Politico’s pricing threats

Trump, flying for the superbowl on Sunday, journalists told the prices on Monday and more “reciprocal” prices on Tuesday.

The imposition of prices is likely to trigger an energetic reaction from Brussels. Steel and aluminum are at the center of an unresolved dispute between Washington and Brussels dating from 2018, when Trump imposed prices that were suspended later.

EU reprisals on Bourbon whiskey, motorcycles or cranberry juice were interrupted during administration Joe Biden. The truce should be launched on the European side at the end of March.

The European Commission said there was no justification for imposing prices and that it would react to protect the interests of European companies, workers and consumers against unjustified measures.

“The taxation of prices would be illegal and economically counterproductive,” the commission said in a statement. “By imposing prices, the United States would tax its own citizens, would increase business costs and feed inflation. In addition, prices strengthen economic uncertainty and disrupt the efficiency and integration of global markets. »»
