Four people were killed and a seriously injured when their cable car plunged into a ravine in Italy on Thursday, local authorities announced.
The accident occurred after a cable on the Cablodistribution of Monte Faith near Sorrento was broken by bad weather, according to Vincenzo de Luca, the president of the Campania region in southern Italy.
Witnesses on the ground said that the cable car had dropped in the valley below, hitting a pylon going down. He would also have struck a crane on a construction site.
De Luca said that the car that fell had two couples and a cable worker on board.
According to Italian firefighters, one person survived the fall, but was seriously injured and in hospital at a hospital in Naples.
The cable -distribution, which reopened on April 10 after the renovations, extends from Castellammare di Stabia between Naples and Sorrento about 1,092 meters from Monte Faito overlooking the Bay of Naples and the Vesuve volcano.

The local stations that connect Sorrento and the Amalfi coast in Naples were closed.
