Police in India arrested at least four people in connection with the deadly crushing of the crowd which took place in the southern city of Bengaluru this week.

Wednesday, 11 people were killed When tens of thousands gathered in front of a cricket stadium to celebrate the historic victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) of the Bengaluru Cricket League (RCB).

Arrested people include RCB staff and the event management company that organized the celebrations.

Five police officers, including the city police chief, were suspended for “negligence and irresponsibility” by the government.

A police official told the Hindi BBC that more arrests are expected as the investigation continued.

According to police, those arrested were responsible for the publication of the victory parade – of the legislative construction of the State at the Chinnaswamy stadium – on the handles and the website of the social media of the RCB.

THURSDAY, Head Minister Siddaramaiah said that a complaint against the police had been filed and that judicial measures were taken against the franchise, the event management company and the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

More than 200,000 people were reportedly presented for the parade, although the police only planned half of this number. The stadium, where celebrations took place, has a capacity of 32,000 and was exceeded long before the team arrives.

The High Court of Karnataka also ordered a situation report on the incident.

In addition, India’s cricket coach Gautam Gambhir criticized the decision to host the victory parade and said that his “heart goes out” to affected people.

“If we are not ready to organize a road show, we should not have done so,” said the former striker of India and the captain winner of the IPL Gambir.

RCB said on Thursday that they would give 1,000,000 rupees (£ 9,000) to families of people killed.

“We must be responsible. We must be responsible and responsible citizens in all aspects, because each life is important … You can not lose 11 people at any time. We can be more responsible,” added Gambir.
