Germany faced Portugal in the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League. A competition where Germany did not have its crucial players Bayern Munich Star Jamal Musiala, real Madrid‘S Antonio Rüdiger and Arsenal FCKai Havertz was always going to be difficult. However, Ronaldo Portugal progresses to the final with a 2-1 victory, to the subject of an extraordinary second half. Here are the observations of the game.
A story of two halves
Germany began the game to use a strange 3-4-2-1, a training never seen before, but a fairly simple thing. Due to the lack of staff, director Julian Nagelsmann has opted for training that helps use existing staff in the best possible way.
The first half was quite uniform, Germany and Portugal attempted. Germany emerged from the first half with a slight edge, having had more promising attack movements. Unlike Florian Wirtz had a particularly poor first half because he was constantly grouping by red shirts. The Portuguese attack, despite its clear quality, could do nothing of the first 45. Inevitably, the two teams had trouble with the same problem, without being able to finish.
And then, the second half occurred.
In the 47th minute, Nick Woltemade made a race in front of several defenders, exceeded the ball at Joshua Kimmich, who located a Florian Wirtz perfectly positioned at the range at close range of the net. Wirtz guided the ball at the back of the net with what was a perfectly delicate singular touch. For a second there, it seemed that Germany was gaining this. But that could not have been further from reality. Portugal managed to change the game and score twice before the final whistle.
He entered this multitude of factors, such as substitutions, which simply did not reach the brand. There have been several cases where Germany simply did not have the staff with enough prowess to answer appropriately. Maximilian Mittelstädt and Nick Woltemade had a rather mediocre game and yet their substitutions with Robin Gosens and Niclas Füllkrug did not carry the expected results. Then the error occurred – Serge Gnabry for Leroy Sané, essentially blurring the whole attack.
The substitutions of Portugal of Francisco Conceição, Nelson Semedo and Vitinha capsized the German ship before he could even hope to sail halfway. Conceição scored a magnificent solo goal, undoubtedly the best goal of the match with a decisive pass from Ruben Dias which was followed by the Talisman Ronaldo marking a fantastic team objective graceful with a disinterested pass from Nuno Mendes in just 5 minutes. Other attempts to bring Karim Adeyemi and Felix Nmecha did not bear any fruit.
However, what Nagelsmann has done on the right is to keep Robin Koch, who had a phenomenal match this evening.
Some unexpected resurgences
While Florian Wirtz was busy being absolutely incapable of “man marking”, three players whose prices could potentially be 150 million made an unexpected return.
Joshua Kimmich had an absolutely brilliant match. Playing in a right position seemed to have unlocked all its range when he led the midfielder and the defense, which makes the last minute adjustments necessary. He covered the mistakes of Jonathan Tah and Co. This whim he made to erase the ball, which was then eliminated by Marc-André Ter Stegen was a work of art. His corner kicks always induce fans’ tears, but his overall performance was fantastic.
Leon Goretzka intends to do his dye manner Resurgence, as was obvious in the match in Italy and this match too. He was silent, reliable and barely had an error in his game.
The biggest shock of the night was however, Marc-André Ter Stegen. He may not be a benchmark, or very good in his leg game, but what distinguishes him are his reflexes from another world. A remarkable backup was the double backup which he brought towards the end, preventing Ronaldo from scoring. His instinctive dash on the left to deny the second blow was simply incredible. Ter Stegen may not have played the goal for the NT for years now, but he seems to have a decent argument with this game.
I ask you to dream and differ from our unfeated lives
No one has time to waste like Portuguese. And the referees are no less careful.
The lower arbitration is not new for Germany or Bayern Munich. This evening referee reflected this – it made the watch frustrating, and in addition, also played at least a minor role in the final score line.
Many can disagree with the latter, but a fair officer would have definitively made the gap and helped Germany at least at level 2-2.
Does Germany even have reliable attackers? (Not) end with misfortune among other misfortunes
The desperate lack of attacking the workforce has certainly retained Germany, but it is necessary to pay particular attention to Nick Woltemade. The young striker spent a difficult night and, thereafter, was abandoned at the start of the second half. He barely received the ball, but also seemed to fight to hold the ball or position himself appropriately. Unless the goal of Wirtz he initiated, he had too little. Wirtz also had a rather inspired outing. Adeyemi’s substitution was simply not enough to add the missing factor to the German team.
Lack of reliability in advance is a problem that torments too long in Germany. The presence of experienced characters like Leroy Sané and Niclas Füllkrug still does not cut it, once again, the attack offers inadequate performance. It is perhaps, once again, returning to the drawing board for Julian Nagelsmann, who will have to somehow understand how to tackle serious lack of emergency and bad progress in the last third before Germany faces bigger fish early enough.
