A vehicle drifted onto a bike path in Fountain Valley over the weekend, struck a cyclist and fled the scene, authorities said Thursday, May 16, with the 52-year-old man later dying.
Antonio Huerta, a Huntington Beach resident, died at a hospital a day after the collision on Sunday, May 12, said Sgt. Brian Mosher said.
After 7:05 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the area of Salter Avenue and Santa Maria Street and found an injured Huerta on the south sidewalk of Slater, Mosher said.
Investigators determined the driver and Huerta were heading east on Slater, Mosher said. The hit-and-run driver continued east on Slater.
