Former NFL cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested for the second time in nine months after allegedly assaulting several police officers while responding to a drug call.

Saturday, members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a call, resulting in an attempted arrest of Breeland.

Breeland would not have been handcuffed without problems, attacking several police officers before being incarcerated.

The 2020 Super Bowl winner with the Chiefs now faces assault charges in addition to the drug charges he would have been convicted of had he not resisted arrest, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Last August, Breeland was also arrested after being found in possession of drugs, guns and a stolen car. Breeland’s case for 2023 is still pending, according to the Charlotte Observer. His next court date is scheduled for October.

In Breeland’s second arrest in nine months, firearms were also found at the home where he was taken into custody.

Breeland has not played in the NFL since 2021 with the Minnesota Vikings. He spent two years with the Kansas City Chiefs and was drafted by the Washington Commanders.

Among the drugs found in Breeland’s possession were several containers likely containing marijuana and five bottles of promethazine hydrochloride, a sedative medication used to treat nausea.

Breeland, 31, was also arrested in August 2020 on drug and alcohol charges and resisting arrest.

He pleaded guilty in October 2020 and was sentenced to 30 days in jail for the incident.
