Former Ravens QB Joe Flacco Placed on COVID List; Zach Wilson returns as Jets starter – The Denver Post

After missing the last four games, rookie Zach Wilson will be back under center for the New York Jets against the Houston Texans this Sunday, sources told the New York Daily News.

Quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Mike White entered the reserve / COVID-19 list on Tuesday.

Flacco has not received a COVID vaccine, he said last Wednesday. The former Ravens quarterback hasn’t explained why he wasn’t vaccinated, saying he wanted to keep his reasons to himself.

“I definitely have my reasons. Honestly, I probably like to talk about this topic more than anyone… But overall I feel like it’s more of a distraction than anything else, ”Flacco said last week. “So, I want to talk about it too much and give you all my beliefs, it’s more of a distraction than anything else. I think the most important thing is playing a football game.

Wilson suffered a PCL sprain against the Patriots and missed four games. He was replaced by White, who did a decent job. White played well enough to wonder who would start once Wilson was healthy. White threw five touchdowns in his first eight quarters with a 405-yard performance against the Bengals in a surprise win.

But White struggled enormously against the Bills, as he threw four interceptions in a 45-17 loss.

Then the Jets threw Flacco, which they acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 25, against the Miami Dolphins in Week 11. Coach Robert Saleh believed the veteran quarterback would be better equipped to handle the game. Dolphins blitz program.

Flacco proved Saleh right, as he went 12 for 19 for 168 yards and two touchdowns against the blitz.

Wilson could have come back against the Bills. But Saleh didn’t want to rush Wilson when he started training two weeks ago.

“We will do everything to make sure we protect this young man,” Saleh said on Monday. “So when he’s healthy and he feels like there are no limits to his ability to play football and he doesn’t think about that knee, we’ll bring him out. But he has to be 100% healthy before he is taken out onto the football field.

Now Wilson is healthy and is starting over.
