Former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized at the University of California Irvine Medical Center with an “unrelated Covid infection,” his spokesperson said.

“He is on the mend, in good spirits and is incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff who provide him with excellent care,” said spokesperson Angel Ureña, wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.

A statement from Drs. Alpesh Amin and Lisa Bardack say Clinton was admitted “for close monitoring and administered antibiotics and IV fluids. He remains in the hospital for continued monitoring.”

“After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count tends to drop and he responds well to antibiotics. The California-based medical team is in constant communication with the President’s New York-based medical team, including his cardiologist. . We hope he gets home soon. “
