New Orleans (AP)-The veteran of the Saints of New Orleans leaving the quarter-Arrière Derek Carr decided to retire due to a labral tear and a degenerative injury of the rotator head to the right shoulder, the team announced on Saturday.
Carr, 34, has played for 11 professional seasons since his selection of Fresno State by the Raiders of the Estor-Oakland in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft.
It was acquired by the saints as a free agent in 2023, but had mixed results in New Orleans, spending 14-13 as leaving while struggling through oblique, hand and head injuries which made him miss seven games last season.
Carr, which was to enter the third year of a $ 150 million contract over four years, has total career transit of 41,245 yards, 257 affected and 112 interceptions.
He retired with a record of 77-92 as a starter without ever having won an eliminatory match.
Carr’s retirement occurs after New Orleans used a high choice of second-round draft to select Tyler Shough from Louisville as a future potential quarter-although it remains to be seen at what speed it can be ready for this role.
The other QB on the alignment of the saints include the second year professional Spencer Rattle and the third year player Jake Haener, who posted a victory between them in seven games last season, which Rattler started.
