Gore really dedicated himself to boxing before his professional debut

Gore celebrated in style when he sent his opponent, Yaya Olorunsola, crashing face down after landing a vicious right hook in the fourth round of their fight.

The referee immediately stepped in to call off the fight and Gore nonchalantly returned to his corner as if this type of knockout was nothing new to him.

Although this is Gore’s first professional boxing fight, it’s not the first time the American football star has stepped into the squared circle.

In December 2021, he was on Jake Paul’s undercard against Tyron Woodley 2 in Florida. Gore suffered a unanimous decision loss to ex-NBA Deron Williams, who immediately retired after the fight.

The former NFL star is one of the greatest running backs of all time.

Originally, the fight was to be a professional contest. However, in the days leading up to the event, it was turned into an exhibit for unknown reasons.

Gore played in the NFL for 16 consecutive years before pursuing a career in boxing. For most of that time he played for the San Francisco 49ers, but also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

During his storied NFL career, he ran for exactly 16,000 yards, a number that is the third best of all time. The longevity of Gore’s career in American football’s top league is rare in his position as running back.

In 2020, he set the all-time record for games played as a running back with 241 appearances. Naturally, he was named to the 2010s Team of the Decade that same year.
