Former DEAN WELLS from NFL LB died at 54 years after a two -year cancer battle

The former Panthers secondary, Dean Wells, died Thursday morning, after a two -year battle against cancer, the team announced on Friday.

Wells was 54 years old.

The Seahawks selected him in the fourth round of the 1993 recovery. After six seasons with the Seahawks, Wells joined the Panthers in 1999, where he played under the coach of the seconds Sam Mills.

He concluded a career of nine years with 529 plated, 2.5 bags, six forced escaped, four escaped recovery and three interceptions.

Wells played collegially at the University of Kentucky, where he set a bag record in a single season in 1992 with 10. His five bags in a single match remain a school record.

He spent the last year of his life to help fight cancer, suggesting blood donation, financial donations to cancer research initiatives and join the bone marrow register.

Wells is survived by his wife, Lisa, and two sons.
