Former Bay Area teacher at Making Waves Academy faces 29 counts of assault involving 7 minors, district attorney says


RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) — A former East Bay teacher is facing multiple child molestation charges, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney.

Anessa Paige Gower was a biology professor at Making Waves Academy in Richmond, where she allegedly committed numerous acts of a sexual nature with seven minors between 2021 and 2022, the prosecutor’s office said.

On Friday, the DA filed 29 charges against Gower after she was arrested April 6 at Sacramento International Airport while returning from Hawaii to California.

She is currently being held in Richmond.

Because they are all minors, the identity of the victims is not revealed.
