Former Bay Area teacher at Making Waves Academy faces 29 counts of assault involving 7 minors, district attorney says

RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) — A former East Bay teacher is facing multiple child molestation charges, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney.

Anessa Paige Gower was a biology professor at Making Waves Academy in Richmond, where she allegedly committed numerous acts of a sexual nature with seven minors between 2021 and 2022, the prosecutor’s office said.

On Friday, the DA filed 29 charges against Gower after she was arrested April 6 at Sacramento International Airport while returning from Hawaii to California.

Because they are all minors, the identity of the victims is not revealed.

“Investigators have taken statements from victims and witnesses about a number of incidents involving sexual acts with minors, inappropriate touching, and the sharing of sexual photos on online platforms,” ​​the office said. prosecutor.
