Former Arsenal star Lukas Podolski, worth £180m from his business empire, recruits Backstreet Boys for festival

Arsenal cult hero Lukas Podolski has recruited iconic American boy band Backstreet Boys to headline his upcoming music festival..

The 38-year-old, who currently plies his trade in Poland for Gornik Zabrze, has earned a fortune of £180 million through his activities in the kebab and ice cream industry.

Podolski launched his dessert brand Ice Cream United in 2017, before following up with his first chain Mangal Doner the following year.

There are now more than 30 of his kebab branches across Germany, including four in his beloved Cologne, where he attended the club’s academy.

And last year, the 2014 World Cup winner created the Glucksgefuhle Festival alongside his business partner Markus Krampe.

It was a huge success, with over 135,000 people visiting the jamboree at Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg, making it Germany’s largest festival.

More than 200,000 people are expected this time for the festival which will take place from September 12 to 15.

And none other than ’90s favorites Backstreet Boys – nine-time Grammy Award nominees – will headline the Euphoria Stage.

It’s the only German concert at which the band – famous for their hits “I Want It That Way” and “Everybody” – will perform this year, also featuring Lost Frequencies and Martin Garrix.

Fans will also be able to take part in football tournaments at the festival, as well as racing on a go-kart track, with a Ferris wheel and carousel also installed.

Those wishing to attend the festival will have to fork out £68 for a day ticket, while they will have to fork out £162 for a weekend pass.

Podolski joined the Gunners in 2012 and quickly became a huge fan favourite, scoring 16 goals in all competitions in his first season.

Arsenal fans set off fireworks outside the so-called Manchester City hotel ahead of the Tottenham match but failed to realize Pep Guardiola’s side were not saying so.

The striker then helped end Arsenal’s nine-year drought, starting in the 3-2 FA Cup final win over Hull in 2014.

He fell down the pecking order under Arsène Wenger during his third campaign, resulting in him being loaned to Inter Milan during the 2015 winter transfer window.

And he was then sold to Galatasaray that summer, but despite only being at the club for three years, he remains a popular figure among Arsenal fans.
