Former Arsenal star Jeff Reine-Adélaïde eliminated in Belgium relegation battle
Former Arsenal star Jeff Reine-Adelaide was sent off on a stretcher to MWD Molenbeek in Belgium after being hit in the face by the ball.
During a relegation battle against Charleroi, the midfielder remained on the pitch for 10 minutes after the incident.
Molenbeek was already 3-0 down when the ball hit the 26-year-old.
He was finally replaced nine minutes into added time in the first half.
Reine-Adélaïde was then taken to hospital to be examined.
Molenbeek coach Yannick Ferrera explained his fears after the match.
He said after the match: “Jeff was unconscious for about ten minutes. We fear a brain hemorrhage.”
But this was later denied by the player’s entourage who declared to L’Équipe: “Jeff is fine. There is no hemorrhage or after-effects. »
His former club Lyon was among the many worried supporters.
They posted: “Olympique Lyonnais is with you in these difficult times.
“We wish you a speedy recovery, courage and strength.”
And the player has since posted a thank you for the well wishes on Instagram.
He wrote: “Thank you for your messages of support, more fear than harm.”
