Former all-black Five Points fire station to be transformed into residence

A piece of Five Points history is off the market.

The building at 2563 Glenarm Place, once Denver’s only all-black fire station, cost $895,000 last month, records show.

The 4,125-square-foot building will be converted into a private residence, according to Eddie Lederman, who represented the buyers.

Built in 1888, Fire Station No. 3’s all-black crew fought fires out of the building until 1931. They then moved across the street to 2500 Washington, where they remained until desegregation Denver Fire Department in 1957.

Washington St. Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in July, according to History Colorado.

The property was sold by Stuart Bombel, who signed on behalf of Albrook Partners LLC, which purchased the property for $350,000 in March 2023.

Paul Cattin of Platinum CRE and Autumn White of PorchLight Real Estate Group in Boulder represented the seller. Cattin said Albrook is a restorative investor. He said the company completely repaired the roof and foundation as well as the wood flooring, returning the old fire station to a shell state.

Lederman and Tyler Joyce of Lederman Locations negotiated the deal for Colin Joyce and Laura Backhaus, who records show purchased the property.
