Bangkok– Ford Motor Co. recalls 272,827 Broncos and Mavericks due to an electrical supply problem that can lead to unexpected stop or start -up of vehicles.
Information from the National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration indicates that the problem is linked to a 12 -volt battery manufactured by Camel Battery of China which has “internal manufacturing defects”, in particular welding defects that can cause open circuits.
He said no accident, fire or injury had been reported because of this problem.
The vehicles were manufactured between February 2021 and October 2023, the date on which Ford stopped using these specific batteries. It is estimated that defects only affect 1 % of vehicles equipped with batteries.
Ford is committed in November to review and improve its decision -making processes and to submit to the supervision of an independent third party which will oversee its recall performance for three years after the United States government imposed a fine for having progressed too slowly during a previous reminder.
The NHTSA said that after a previous reminder of SUV Ford Bronco Sport 2021-23 and Ford Maverick 2022-2023 vans, some vehicles have lost power, including the possibility of lighting the distress fires, without warning. The remedy implies software updates to improve the detection of battery problems and provide warnings to drivers, he said.
