Ford brings a slight drop in sales of the first quarter

Ford engine On Tuesday, a slight decrease in its sales of American vehicles in the first quarter, as a car manufacturer and in the widest of the industry on Tuesday for President Donald Trump, which should come into force this week.

Ford sales in the first quarter were reduced by 1.3% compared to the same period a year earlier, largely due to last year’s stop of its Ford Edge SUV, which was manufactured in Canada. This decision was not linked to prices. Vehicle sales fell 94% while car manufacturer dealers sell the remaining inventory of the vehicle.

While Ford’s overall sales have had a slight decrease in the quarter, the automaker reports its retail sales, which exclude its fleet activities, increased by 5% in annual shift. Retail sales were motivated by an increase of 19% in March, said Ford.

Sales results become before the prices ordered by Trump which take effect this week, including 25% of charges from imported vehicles from Thursday. The automotive industry also awaits advertisements from potential additional “reciprocal” prices that could affect car manufacturers on Wednesday.

JD Power last week has planned robust industry sales for March while consumers clashed in dealers to buy a new vehicle to avoid any potential increase in prices due to prices.

“The increase in retail sales of 13% over the year is particularly strong, made consumers accelerating purchases to avoid potential price -related price increases,” said Thomas King, president of the Data and Analytics division at JD Power, in a press release. “Although the tariff situation remains both fluid and uncertain, the prospect of prices is already starting to affect industry.”

The forecastists of the automotive industry expected sales of vehicles in the first quarter overall to increase from year to year by 1% or less as prices increase and that car manufacturers and dealers recover sales incentives.
