For the third time in his career, Brandon McManus hasn’t missed a kick in five games – The Denver Post

As teams face inaccurate and injured kickers in the NFL, Broncos’ Brandon McManus is enjoying one of the best starts of his career.

McManus hasn’t missed any field goals or extra point attempts in five games for the third time in his career (2015 and 2018). He’s 11 of 11 on field goals and 9 of 9 on extra points.

“Obviously it’s always good to start the year off right (when) the weather is pretty good across the country,” he said ahead of practice Thursday. “Just (try) to get into a good grove and be consistent.”

McManus’ baskets were 23, 36, 32, 46, 40, 45, 47, 21, 36, 39 and 29 yards. Even with two home games at altitude, he didn’t attempt a kick of at least 50 yards.

“We let a couple pass for the fourth goal,” he said. “I think last year was a bit of an anomaly with (16) attempts (of at least 50 yards), but I’m excited to go out and do a few this week or in the coming weeks. . “

New caller to play. Greg Olson takes over from Las Vegas after coach Jon Gruden resigned Monday night.

“Their offense, I’m sure, won’t change what they’re doing as much as they do,” said Broncos Vic Fangio. “Obviously, the new game caller might be focusing on other things that he might not have used as much or studied. … It will be the same offense, but the way it is called and used will be different. “

Injury report. Running back Melvin Gordon (lower leg) and safety back Kareem Jackson (back) returned to practice Thursday with limited ability.
