For the first time, Apple offers ANC on its mid-range AirPods

Apple will launch new versions of its AirPods, including a mid-range model that will feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology for the first time. The device will be unveiled on September 10 alongside the Apple Watch 10 and iPhone 16 series.

The next AirPods lineup will include two new models. The first model, likely a successor to the AirPods 2, will be the entry-level option. It should retain a similar design to its predecessor; remember the very first AirPods? Yes, that design. It will likely omit ANC to keep the price competitive.

The second model will compete with the AirPods 3 in the mid-range segment. This version will include ANC, a feature previously reserved for the high-end AirPods Pro.

Both new AirPods models are expected to adopt the USB-C charging standard. While the official name of these new models has not been confirmed, there is speculation that they will be called AirPods Air or AirPods 4.

Note: The AirPods Pro won’t get an update this year. Apple plans to refresh the Pro lineup in 2025 with new designs, new chips, and possibly even health-focused features.
