GWS could be about to lose one of its most athletic young defenders, Leek Aleer continuing to attract the serious attention of rivals clubs after a spectacular brand in the VFL on Saturday.
The 23 -year -old, who is without a contract at the end of 2025, climbed above the peloton to reduce what many call a competitor for the brand of the year – in a reserve game.
The moment, captured and published by GWS Media with the legend “Leek Aleer with an early pretender for Mother”, has already attracted a lot of attention with other questions about the reasons why he does not play football.
AFL fans on social networks have been amazed. “MassssssiSIVE,” wrote a user.
Another said, “It’s up there. Without effort. ‘
Shout to make Aleer have a senior opportunity – or to move elsewhere – quickly followed. “This is a crime that Leek Aleer is stuck in the 2,” read an article.

The GWS star has been stuck in the reserve so far this season despite the rejection of the rival offers of AFL clubs
Aleer has signed a one -year contract with GWS but could be in a rival club if you continue to miss AFL opportunities
“Really might be a one million dollars player next year.”
League supporters joined the League, fans urging their clubs to play for the defender Hors-Favori.
“It will seem well in black and white red (from St Kilda) next year,” wrote a fan.
Others sounded with “future West Coast Eagles Legend Leek Aleer” and “Carlton Cut Gov (Mitch McGovern) and sign this child as soon as possible”.
The future of Aleer has been a subject of speculation since the commercial period of 2023, when several clubs have brought strong approaches.
St Kilda would have offered him a six -year contract worth $ 800,000 per season, which he refused in favor of one more year at GWS.
But with the playing time again elusive in 2025, a move is back on the cards – and the rival clubs turn again.
As revealed on the Fox Footy mid -week platform, the saints are now ready to go even stronger, which would have been willing to offer up to $ 900,000 per season.
Aleer has shown a lot of promises in its limited time in the AFL, but is stuck behind quality defenders at the Giants
Aleer will be planned for a day of massive remuneration and more AFL opportunities if he signs for a rival club
Journalist Jon Ralph described it as St Kilda “launching the kitchen sink at Leek Aleer”.
“His manager, Dylan Smith, met him in Sydney (Tuesday), he knows that he will have to move on,” said Ralph. “St Kilda, I think, at the moment, are the biggest tenderer.”
Brisbane will also monitor the situation closely, with Riley Beverridge and Cal Twomey by AFL Media both suggesting on GetTable that LEAER will not be with the giants beyond this season.
“Leek Aleer does not seem to have a place in the side of the giants,” said Beveridge. Twomey added: “Party”.
Taken with the choice 15 in the draft of AFL 2021, Aleer was once considered the long -term solution to the main defensive actions of GWS.
But with stars like Sam Taylor, Jack Buckley, Harry Himmelberg and Connor Idun locking the bottom line, Aleer found limited opportunities.
He played four games in his first season in 2022, followed by eight others in 2024 – including a pair of clutch interception brands in the dying minutes against Geelong at the Round 11 which helped win the Giants’ victory.
However, despite these flashes of promise, Aleer was overlooked for the opening of the 2025 GWS season against Collingwood and has not been selected since.
Addressing age during the pre-season, Aleer was frank on what will influence its future.
“(Playing AFL Games) will obviously be a major contributor to my decision,” he said.
“I love giants, I like boys, I like the coach and all the staff – and I like Sydney as a whole. But I am a very ambitious person.
“This year, I am very focused on playing football and enjoying what will be a fruitful season for us as a football club.
“Playing as many games as possible is my main priority. When I arrive at this crossroads at the back of the year, to decide what I want to do, I will speak and I will deal with these things then.
