Foo Fighters separated from drummer Josh Freese after about two years of work together.
Freese announced that he was released on Instagram on Friday.
“During my 40 years of drum professionally, I have never been released from a group, so even if I am not angry-just a little shocked and disappointed,” he wrote.

Freese, 52, a veteran drummer who worked with Nine Inch Nails, Devo and Guns N ‘Roses, said he appreciated the last two years with the group and respected his decision to go with another drummer – although a new drummer has not yet been announced. “The Foo Fighters called me on Monday evening to let me know that they” decided to go in a different direction with their drummer “. No reason has been given, ”wrote Freeese.
Freese has joined Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters about a year after the sudden death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Earlier this week, Foo Fighters posted on Instagram that the group would occur at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – his first show since Grohl announced that he had a child outside his marriage last year.
A representative of Foo Fighters did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
“But as most of you know,” wrote Freeese, “I have always worked independent and I bounced between groups, so I’m fine.”
