In a shocking case from Port Charlotte, Florida, a young man lost his arm after being attacked by an alligator near Fort Myers last weekend. According to a Daily mail report, the man identified as Jordan Rivera, 23, fell into the pond in the early hours of Sunday, after which he was attacked by the 10ft alligator. The incident took place outside the Banditos bar in Port Charlotte when Rivera went outside to relieve himself, given a long queue in the toilets. Hearing his cry, people rushed to the scene and pulled him out of the case, before transporting him to hospital.

In a statement released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the 10.5-foot alligator was later retrieved from the pond and later euthanized.

In the meantime, the young man who was transported to hospital by helicopter had to undergo major surgery following which he lost one of his arms. Speaking on the same subject, Rivera said he didn’t remember anything after falling into the river. “While I was going there, something happened where I tripped or the ground below me just collapsed. I ended up in the water. And that’s literally the last thing I remember,” he said.

The next time Rivera opened his eyes, he was in the hospital and had his arm amputated.

While the case is currently under investigation, an eyewitness by the name of Manny Hidalgo spoke to The daily sun and recalled the incident. Mentioning that the victim was in the water when he found him, Hidalgo said: “He was screaming and swimming towards shore when I saw him. I immediately ran and dragged it across the sand as I was afraid to go near the water because it was dark.

“I don’t know if it was a mom alligator trying to save her young baby, or a dad alligator trying to feed his family, but the guy was very lucky,” he added.
