Florence Pugh Andrew Garfield in a romantic comedy

Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield show off their romantic acting chops in John Crowley’s “We Live in Time.” A24 has released the trailer for the romantic comedy, which is set to hit theaters on October 11.

The film follows Almut (Florence Pugh), an up-and-coming chef, and Tobias (Garfield), a decades-old divorcee, as the couple fall in love after a surprise encounter. According to the film’s official synopsis: “Almut (Florence Pugh) and Tobias (Andrew Garfield) reunite in a surprise encounter that changes their lives. Through snapshots of their lives together—falling in love, building a home, becoming a family—a difficult truth is revealed that shakes their foundations. As they embark on a journey defied by the limits of time, they learn to cherish every moment of the unconventional road their love story has taken in filmmaker John Crowley’s deeply moving, decade-spanning romance.”

The trailer shows their relationship evolve over 10 years, from the moment Almut accidentally hits Tobias with his car to the moment they tell their young daughter how they met.

After Pugh and Garfield presented the screenplay awards together at the 2023 Oscars, it was revealed that the “Dune: Part Two” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” stars will be working together on the cinematic love story.

“We Live in Time” will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. At the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Paris-based film production and distribution company StudioCanal sold the film to A24 for U.S. distribution.

Nick Payne, who worked as a screenwriter on “The Crown” and wrote the 2021 Netflix romantic comedy “The Last Letter From Your Lover,” wrote the screenplay and developed the script with StudioCanal.

The film is produced by Benedict Cumberbatch through his company SunnyMarch alongside Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland and Guy Heeley. Ron Halpern and Joe Naftalin are also producing for StudioCanal.
