Fleveled gas pipes sparkle colossal fire in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – A fire caused by an exploded gas hose spreads to several houses and has sent a ball of arrow fire to the sky outside the largest city in Malaysia on Tuesday, injuring more than 100 people.

The inferno imposing near a service station in Putra Heights outside Kuala Lumpur was visible for the kilometers (miles) and lasted several hours. This happened during a public holiday as Muslims, which are the majority in Malaysia, celebrate the second day of Eid.

The national oil company Petronas said that the fire had started in one of its gas pipelines at 8:10 a.m. and that the affected pipeline was then isolated. Disaster management officials said that the valve closed the fire.

The flames, 20 floors at one point, were small enough for the firefighters to approach around 2:45 p.m., said the fire service of Selangor State to the Star Journal.

At least 49 houses were damaged and 112 people were injured, with 63 sent to the hospital to burn, respiratory difficulties and other injuries, said assistant police chief in Selangor, Mohamad Zainini Abu Hassan, quoted by the Bernama national news agency.

Selangor Minister of Selangor Shari said that the fire -evacuated fire service as a security measure and residents will be placed in nearby mosques until the situation is under control.

Photos and videos of the fireball have become viral on social networks, some residents saying that they felt a strong tremor with the doors and windows of their trembling houses.

Lee Weng Ken, who suffered burns to the left leg, said he was shocked when the ceiling of his house collapsed and crushed his vehicle parked in the house complex.

“I rushed out of my house but I fell and I suffered from burns due to the heat of the fire near my home,” he told Bernama.

Another victim who did not want to be known like Andy, told Bernama that he had failed from his home with his children when they felt tremors and saw the fire that unleashes about 100 meters (yards).

“I could only take out the car. My 18-year-old daughter was injured when she fell climbing the fence due to the heat, he said.

Petronas said that three service stations were closed as a precaution, although they were not affected, and that investigations are still in progress.
